SoilRegen joins exclusive group of landholders with second-round ACCU issuance

SoilRegen has received a second issuance of 1,285 Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) on the Killen Carbon Project, taking the 47 hectare project to a cumulative total of 2,996 ACCUs (or 63 ACCUs per hectare) and making them one of only four landholder groups in Australia to reach a second (T2) round of credits under the 2021 soil carbon method.

SoilRegen is featured in 'The Land'

We’re thrilled to share that this morning we were featured in an article of 'The Land', highlighting our ongoing successes in soil remediation and soil carbon! It’s an exciting milestone for our team and a reflection of the passion, innovation, and hard work that goes into everything we do. From our circular economy approach to pushing the boundaries of what a soil carbon project can achieve, we’re proud to be making a real impact. This recognition motivates us even more as we continue to grow, improve, and dig deeper into what’s possible!

SoilRegen wins 2026 excellence award for excellence in Research & Development

SoilRegen, owned by a husband-and-wife team from Blakney Creek, has won the 2026 NSW excellence in research and development award from the Australian Water Association.
John Lawson and Philippa Yelland run a cattle farm and soil-carbon project at Blakney Creek, 80km west of Goulburn.
The award, won jointly with client SUEZ Water, recognises the Lawson-Yellands’ research into transforming sludge from SUEZ’s water treatment plant at Prospect into a crucial addition to acidic soils.
This addition transforms soils made unhealthy through erosion, acidification, salinisation and soil-carbon loss.
By using the sludge – and other balanced circular-economy inputs – to add missing minerals to soils and improve water retention, the research has culminated in the Lawson-Yellands’ company, SoilRegen PL, generating a record-breaking rate of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) per hectare.
‘One of the aspects we’re most proud of is our focus on soil and materials science to support a circular economy,’ John Lawson said. ‘Our contract with SUEZ Water enables an extended science-based approach. The completed section has gained 1.6% of soil-organic carbon in the top 30cm in less than three years.’
Incorporating SUEZ’s water-treatment sludge in multi-species mix pastures has helped deliver carbon credits in as little as two years, in contrast to the usual five, Philippa Yelland said. ‘This is a key benefit we offer landholders looking to unlock the value of carbon farming. We've more than doubled the productivity in our pastures since implementing these soil modifications. The increase in soil-organic carbon has improved soil fertility and extended the growing season.’
To develop the pioneering methods further, SoilRegen has bought a 235ha property at Pejar, north of Goulburn, and has certified a 186ha soil-carbon sequestration project with the Clean Energy Regulator.
